DAY 11

DAY 11

SCRIPTURE

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. - John 3:16-17 NIV

PRAYER

God,

The world had turned away from you, run from you, and even cursed you. Motivated by the purest love, you sent your son. When Jesus came, it was not to accuse or condemn for everything done against you, but to make a way for reconciliation. He came to be with us, to identify with our humanness, to forgive our iniquities and heal our wounds by dying the death we deserved. He came as personification of your love, so that we might know you and be made right with you. Thank you for rescuing the world through your son. Thank you for sending Jesus to save me.

Amen.

JOURNAL REFLECTION

What does it mean to you that God didn’t send Jesus to condemn people for their rebellion or sin? What did/does saving look like in your life?

CALL TO ACTION

Today’s prayer is a powerful reminder that no matter what we do–or what we have done in our past–God loves us more than we can even comprehend. Reflect on that for a moment: he loves you so much, he sent Jesus to be sacrificed for your sins. As you begin this week, think about Jesus’ sacrifice and rest in the understanding that all God wants is to pursue you, love you, and demonstrate his mercy and grace to you in all circumstances.
